Realism-uncanny valley

What is the actual of the real?
Human is creating somethings that not really real to us, but expecting us to assume them is a real....Almostly, but not perfectly but with a realistic human appearance, is

called the uncanny valley.

And!! is not limited to robots, but is also applicable to any

type of human-like object, such as dolls, masks, facial caricatures, avatars in virtual

reality, and characters in computer graphics movies.

Facial images yielded the most unpleasant impressions when they were highly

realistic, supporting the hypothesis of the uncanny valley. However, the uncanny

valley was confirmed only when morphed faces had abnormal features such as bizarre eyes. These results suggest that to have an almost perfectly realistic human

appearance is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for the uncanny valley. The

uncanny valley emerges only when there is also an abnormal feature.

Modern world...

What is modern?

A person who advocates or practices a departure from traditional styles or values that is a "modern"

What is a modern on me?

she is the modern of this world, if u notice, almost every pop star will following\modifying her step... gaga is the leader of the music world, even though Michael jackson also stand behind her.(forget about MJ, he is the pass, pass modern)

Hot and cold

wow....such a contrast.i will show a semiotic example ~

what is actually hot and actually cold?

in the image above, hot will be in the positive position and the cold representing negative.

Seeing a sexy lady is a "positive" for everyone, women could envying on her body , face and skin tone. Guy....em em....you know where should u see....

no perhaps.....its disgustin only....we feeling our skin rash is coming up...

Ya, this is an action on cold.

what definite hot and cold? it's could say as a feeling? perhaps could say in a conscious feeling.. i think.

We could have the feeling connection, unconsciously from the sub conscious. this is what hot and cold mean to us. this is a feeling that we cant control, we cant judge by our own.

Two sides to everythings

Is really having two sides to everythings?

err, in reality...i kinda confuse. it seems yes or it seems no....

in this example that shown,i don't sure this is a good example to show every things have two side or showing every things can change its role ....

罗刹,is a kind of people Chinese Buddha/ Hinduism culture.

Its as shown as a ghost/evil demon that took out life, he done every things bad that he could do.

In the old hinduism, the "lo sha" is equally same kind with the "Satan", that is the demon that appear in the bible.

But, what i found is that "lo sha" have a unique things that ""satan" doesn't have.

"lo sha" originally is a demon, and he change his believe from evil to the good side.( buddha)

After that,buddha giving him the holy power and turn "lo sha" to a god.

Is this telling us, we could "roleplay" in everythings ?

In buddha bible, the "lo sha" fallen himself to be a demon again after 500 years and he realize that being a god is better then being a demon. Finally he returning his position as a god. From this situation, many games and comic or animation that have "lo sha", it influence and been portray as a bad guy in first and will turn in to a good side in the last.

In this example, i could get a image that is "

Nothings could be always evil and nothings could be always good."

i question myself, will the god we believe turn in to devil one day as it have a two different side on everythings....nothings could be always good....

Intertextuality

Intertextuality is the theory that a literary work is not simply the product of a single author, but of its relationship to other texts and to the structures of language itself. All the poems ever written could be imagined to be in one giant book somewhere, where they all respond to one another in extended conversation. Current theory also broadens the definition of "a text" beyond literary works to include other art forms.This is a very very very old example on intertexuality.

Semiotic

wow....such a interestin topic is this!

First,i heard this term, in stephen phoon class for almost a year.

But when i come to daniel class, he pronounce as "Sam-mie-yor-tic" that i feel quite confusing....

maybe its a different english that daniel using....i need some time to get into it!

Semiotics is the study of the actions of signs and how we interpret signs, what they signify is usually arbitrary but people belonging to different cultures may interpret a particular cultural sign differently. Iconic and arbitrary, arbitrary could be a word or illustration of something that is made to look like a depiction of the real thing, the real thing being iconic because everyone is familiar with the real thing.

Noise

Ok, in this post i will talk about this diagram above.

this is very very simple stuff as i will use Maxis as the example.

the infomation source is the maxis computer generated voice, it pass the transmiter,that is the antenna that giving out signal to user phone. the noise sourse that interrupt in is the environment magnectic field, that will causes alot of noise that distracting the signal.

Finally, the voice get in to the user phone. But what he recieved is the voice from maxis and some "gap"blank information that appear as "noise"
